Little House on the Prairie: The Sickness Part #2

(Sorry, I know this was VERY long awaited)....

The girls eventually fell asleep, sicker than ever - much sicker.

Just then, the worst thing happened, Baby Carrie came up to check on her sisters while Ma was out feeding the animals and milking the cows.

"Hi Mary and Laura," Carrie spoke with delight, she was happy to see her sisters. "Why are you up here?"

"Cause we're sick, Carrie," Laura answered, awaking from her sleep. Mary, who was actually much sicker than Laura, was awake now too, but didn't have the strength to talk.

"Can I get in bed with you?" Carried asked, almost getting ready to climb into the bed with them.   

Mary suddenly realized that if she and Laura were really sick, that Carrie wouldn't be able to fight it off like the older girls could. She closed her eyes tightly and spoke very slowly, but firmly. "Carrie, you must go downstairs right now. You must. NOW!" Mary got a bit loud at the last word, which sent Carrie bounding down the loft ladder.

"She's gone," Mary told Laura. Laura just nodded and turned away to sleep. The girls were just so sick.

Within the next half hour, Ma came to check on the girls. Neither of them opened their eyes, but both of them could tell that Ma was seriously worried and that she was almost in tears with every word she spoke. She spoke firmly though. "Mary, Laura, you girls must sit up for a bit. You need to - it's the doctor's orders. Please. Sit up."

Mary and Laura slowly sat up, both feeling extremely weak.

The girls were so hot that the girls' bangs stuck to their foreheads with sweat because they had such terrible fevers. Neither girl could sit up very long, but unlike Laura, Mary understood that listening and following every instruction the doctor gave was important, so after Laura lay back down, Mary tried to stay up some more.

Mary started to feel faint though, so Ma gave her a bucket in case she needed to throw up. Mary did, and instead of making her feel better, she began to feel worse - much worse.

"Do you need to throw up some more?" Ma asked worriedly.

"No, Ma," Mary replied. The pain in her body was terrible and the achy feeling she had made it almost impossible to breathe.

Suddenly, she realized that it was getting extremely hard to breathe - very hard. "Ma!" Mary cried out. She didn't want to startle anyone, but she was scared.

"Ma, Oh Ma, I can't breathe that well!" Mary gasped.

"Oh!" Ma cried, dropping the bucket that held the throw up on the ground and rushing down the loft stairs, her skirts swishing.

She had to alert Dr. Baker. Luckily he was just passing by to visit another house, so he quickly rushed in. Even Dr. Baker was extremely worried, but being a doctor, he was very sensible with his patients. Either they made it or they didn't and he did his best to make sure they did make it.

"Mary, what do you feel?" Dr. Baker asked.

"It's just real hard to breathe - I can barely do it."

"Okay, we need to get you to the makeshift hospital in the church. You will be able to be better cared for there. Here, let's get you loaded into the wagon."

"Dr. Baker? Can I talk to you for a minute?" Ma asked hesitantly.

"Of course, what is it?" Dr. Baker asked as they went downstairs, leaving Mary to try and gather up some strength.

"I can't have my child go away from me! I really can't. I need her. I need to watch over her - she needs her mother," Ma was crying by now. "Suppose she...she doesn't make it. I want to be with her! Oh Dr. Baker, please! How bad is she right now?"

"Caroline, she's getting worse. She's approaching the worst stage of the sickness. At this point, it's going to be a real wonder that she even makes it. If she does, she might never be the same. Laura is doing okay right now, she has a greater chance of making it. Now she is going to the hospital at the church and that's that! Let me go get her."

He lifted her out of bed, and down the two of them went into the wagon. Laura feared she would never see her sister the same again.

A: Yes, my Kirsten doll & Kit doll have loose legs. They aren't too bad though on Kit.

A: No! I am so, so excited! I am going to possibly stay in a beach house in Florida for vacation and maybe go to my family's vacation house in Maryland!

A: YES! My dolls have a lot of pets. They have Garnet (calf), Licorice (cat), Coconut (dog), Chocolate Chip (dog), Bennett (dog), Barksee (dog), Lulu (bunny), Julie's Dog Walking set dogs, & 2 AG Horses (a foal and a big horse).

A: Yes! My mom has a few dolls. She has a ton of Barbies from when she was a kid. She has the Chrissy & Velvet dolls, and an antique Kewpie doll.

OG Kitchen Review Part 2!

Sorry it took me sooo long to get to this, but I've been super busy (I know that many of you have been in that position before, I'm sure). I have many more busy days coming up too, so I will probably not be posting as often, but I promise you that I will not be falling off the face of the earth either and I hope to get a post up at least once every week (though I know that probably won't happen), so as I finish up the end of my school and catch up and all that (I went on a vacation to Florida - so I didn't get to do any school - I am homeschooled though, so that helps). Thank you all for being patient though, and here is the second part! (Also, all of you may be happy to know that I have almost all of the next Annabelle episode filmed - so now I just need to post it!)
Anyway, let's go on to part 2 of the Our Generation Kitchen Review! Since we reviewed the actual furniture pieces, I'm going to review the accessories!

Here is the polka dotted bowl set. It has little white polka dots against a baby blue surface, and it is just so cute. The bowl sort of doesn't match up to the scale of the AG dolls, it is rather big, but it works, and you can really make dough in it and stuff (I have and it comes clean easily). The plates are cute and hold all the awesome food.  I'm surprised they didn't make this set red though, since that is the overall color theme. 

One of my favorite parts of the set are these measuring spoons. I love how they are on a ring just like a lot of measuring spoon sets. They are so realistic and the dolls can really hold them. 

The electric mixer is really neat, but it would be even cooler if it could really move (that would be way over the top though). The doll can't hold onto it too well, but the beater attachments are real and the whole mixer set is very realistic. 

The pot is great, though I think it is a bit big for the stove burners on the set. It works though, and I like how the handle is red to match the main color theme of the set. 

This little drainer for the sink is great and it fits perfectly. The dolls can actually hold it, and I love how the little holes are actually real, not just drawn on or something. It is very well done and realistic. 

Here is the soap and a cleaner spray bottle. The spray bottle top does not come off and is all pretty much painted together, but it doesn't matter, the doll can really hold it and the whole thing looks incredibly real. The soap is cute and I, for some reason, just really like the shape of it. The top where the soap is supposed to come out actually has a hole in it (the dispenser can't push down or anything though).

This loaf pan is so realistic. It looks like the real thing that I have in my kitchen! I love how they made it that stainless steel color. I haven't tried putting real dough in the pan or playdoh/clay or anything, but I don't think it would work as well because the corners are very narrow. 

These are little empty jars. They are cute and could be meant to hold a number of things. I personal think that they would hold things like cotton balls, mini sponges, and maybe a cookie jar. 

Here the tops, as you can see, do come off and go back on nicely. So you could probably fit a few small things in there, the jars are pretty big (they are in 3 different sizes). I love the jars, though I think they would've looked nice as a light red or that color of that bowl set I reviewed above. 

The set came with 2 bowls, but here is 1 of them. The bowls are extremely small and aren't really into scale for some reason. They sort of work, but are probably my least favorite part of the OG kitchen review set. 

This is the salt and pepper shaker set (there is 1 more, but it fell behind the book shelf and I'm still waiting for my dad to get it out for me XD). The white one I use as salt, then they have a blue one, which I guess was made blue to match the bowl set. I use the blue topped one (not shown) for pepper, and the red one for my favorite seasoning mixture, Old Bay!

This is the blue spoon to match the mixing bowl set. The strange thing is, though, that the bowl is so large compared to the spoon, that the spoon fits into the bottom of the bowl almost! It is still good though, but the dolls prefer to mix the drier doughs with their hands anyway. 

Now, we are onto the food! (My favorite part!)

The tomato in this set is squishy, along with the orange (which is not shown), and the red pepper. The tomato is actually really dark and looks almost brown rather than red. The cupcakes are very hard actually, but are so realistic and cute. The triangles you see are sandwiches and they have ham & cheese shown in them from the sides (the sandwiches do not come apart though). Then, the hunk of cheese is so cool, though is really big in scale to some of the other stuff. The cookies are great and are a bit small and sort of blend in with the floor I took the pictures on, but they are actually nice and I really like them. Those 3 little oval shaped things I am still trying to figure out what they could possibly be. If any of you have a suggestion as to what those 3 stuck together oval shaped things could be, let me know, please. 

Next, there are the cardboard boxes. The rainbow pops one is my favorite. They have 2 cereal boxes, one marshmallow one and a fruit one. Then they have a butter package and a realistic milk and orange juice carton. The flour package in your top right corner is really flimsy. The ice cream sundae kit, is, I think the sturdiest out of all the boxes. The egg carton was sort of smashed when I opened it from it's original packaging, but it is still good and it works. The hamburger meat package sort of, personally grosses me out! XD All the packages have English on one side and Spanish on the other, I guess to cater to 2 different languages. 

Then there are the cans, which are real plastic and feel like cans. One is peaches and the other is tuna fish. They are both single size sized cans and are very cute. 

One of my favorite food parts of the set is the hot chocolate part with the little packets of hot chocolate mix, and it is all just SOOO realistic and cute. I wish they showed a mug of hot chocolate, but it doesn't matter, it is still super cool. 

My favorite (I know, almost everything is my favorite), is the measuring cup It has real measurements on the sides and has a real spout to pour and everything. I'm very impressed with it and it is the perfect scale for my AG dolls. 

My other favorite thing is the clear blue plastic pitcher it is actually very large, and perfect for the girls. I can see them having a lemonade stand with this in the future. 

Another cool thing is their house phone with the little docking/charging station. The phone is really cool and there are real raised buttons, but they can't press or move or anything. This a great phone and I love how they took it a step further and rather than just giving the kitchen basics, they gave some other home basics as well. 

The house/kitchen plant is really neat and the green part is plastic, but it really has a bumpy and smooth texture that I love to touch. It is perfect to scale and it is great. 

The last thing is the see through clear blue cup (there are really 2 in the set, but the other is not shown). The cups have a realistic rim at the top and I really love them. They match the pitcher too. 

Overall, I really liked this set, and even though some stuff wasn't completely on scale, it was a great set and I am very grateful to have it!

Little House on the Prairie: Sickness Part #1

I decided to shoot a quick LHOTP photo story since I hadn't done one in a while (I haven't done an Annabelle photo story in a while either, but I will definitely be getting to that soon - in fact, I have Felicity all dressed in her dress, now I just have to shoot it, I hope to have it up within the rest of this month, but I can't make any promises, so just keep checking back).
Here is Part #1 of the photo story!:

Mary woke up one sunny Monday morning. It was the start of a new week, and Ms. Beadle was hosting a history bee. Mary had studied hard and was very excited. As she did her braids though, and washed up a bit before doing her light chore work, eating breakfast, and getting to school, Mary didn't feel so great. It had sort of started as a stomach ache when she had woken up, but now she felt almost light headed. She pushed those thoughts away - she figured it was just because she was nervous about the history bee. She still couldn't get that strange feeling to go away, so she decided to see what Laura thought she should do. She didn't want to tell Ma, because she knew she would miss school, but she also didn't want to have to come home sick!

"Laura, wake up, Laura!" Mary whispered urgently. She was feeling sicker by the minute.

"Uh, uh," Laura grunted.

"Come on, Laura, wake up! I need to ask you something," Mary urged, gently shaking her sister. who turned around to face Mary slowly, but didn't open her eyes.

"I don't feel good Mary, I think I'm sick," Laura whispered before rolling back over and falling asleep once again.

Mary hadn't gotten to ask her if she was feeling okay, but from what Laura had said, and from her behavior of going back to sleep, she knew Laura must be sick too. Mary decided she had better stay home too.

"Mary, Laura? Pa has already left, you're late. You didn't come in time for breakfast," Ma called up into their loft.

"Ma, we can't - we don't feel good," Mary yelled down, using all her strength to yell. She was getting sicker and weaker by the minute. She knew Ma wouldn't make them go to school, but Mary still wished she could.

"What? I'm coming up there right this instant," Ma called up, and Mary could hear her mother start to climb the loft stairs.

"Oh my, you really are sick," Ma frowned worriedly. 'I'm going to make you a bit of herbal tea. Dr. Baker always makes his rounds on Mondays and Saturdays, so he should be over sometime today - hopefully sooner than later," Ma told them, closing the blinds to the window so that it was darker in the room, then, with her skirts swinging frantically, she hurried back down the steps.

Mary slid back under the covers and back to bed. She was very, very, sick and tired. But she knew that Ma's herbal tea would make her better - it always did.

 

Eventually, after a small dose of Ma's tea, Dr. Baker's horse and carriage parked outside of the Ingalls' house, and Dr. Baker knocked on the door, and after hearing about Laura and Mary, quickly went up to their room.

"Mary, Laura, how do you feel?" Dr. Baker asked as he unloaded his little black medical case and prepared to do a few small tests.

"Terrible, it hurts in my head and my stomach, and I feel hot sometimes and cold sometimes, I feel very sick," Mary replied, exhausted from the small amount of words she had just said. Laura didn't answer, so Mary answered for her, "Laura felt the same way - but she hasn't woken up since the tea Ma gave us." 

"Hmm," Dr. Baker thought, "I see." Dr. Baker checked Mary out and Laura too. Finally, he sighed and adjusted his shirt and wiped his hands. "Alright, well, I'll go down and talk to your Ma now," Dr. Baker told them.

"Am I sick?" Mary asked, almost forgetting to add, "Is Laura sick?"

"Yes, you are both very sick," Dr. Baker told Mary. "But don't worry, you aren't missing school today, a few others in the town and some towns nearby came down with this same thing. No one is really allowed around town."

"Where is Pa, then?" Mary asked.

"He agreed to help me with my patients, he is in town right now, picking up some supplies from my office, and then we are going to head off a bit further into some other towns," Dr. Baker told her, "I must give your Ma some orders and talk to her, I will come to check back on you."

Mary nodded and tried to fall back to sleep. She couldn't though. She was a little worried about what was going to happen to them. Dr. Baker had seemed so solemn that it had worried Mary a little.

Outside, against the house, Dr. Baker talked to Ma.

"They really are sick," Dr. Baker her told her, hints of worry lining every word he spoke. "I am only going to be gone for a small bit of today. They are already setting up sick beds in the church. If they get any worse by the time Charles and I come back, I'm going to move them there. We can't have Carrie or you get sick too. This is a very serious illness that there is no cure for. I'm not counting on many to survive it, including older and very young people. If Baby Carrie were to get this, it could be serious - more serious than it already is," Dr. Baker sighed.

"Are there any orders?" Ma asked.

"Well, like I said, there is no medicine for it, so all you can do is make sure they get some rest, and help them with whatever they need. I have a feeling they may get worse, so try to get them to eat anything they can now - once they are too sick, they won't want to eat, also, I suggested soaking their foreheads with cold water," Dr. Baker told her. "Now remember, I am seriously thinking about having them stay in the church with the rest of the sick."

"Oh, but I need them home with me," Ma cried out a bit. She was very worried by Dr. Baker's grave expression.

"Caroline," Dr. Baker spoke firmly, "We are only doing what is best for them. If we have to take them to the church then we have to. We can better care for them there," Dr. Baker told her. Ma nodded and thanked him. He got in his buggy and drove away, while she walked to the creek with the bucket to get some water.

Ma was so worried about Mary and Laura. Usually, they were never this sick. In fact, they rarely got sick at all.

Ma took the cold pitcher of water and shook the water up a bit.  

 

Then, she took some lavender petals out to put into the water. It made the water smell very nice, and it also added a cool, refreshing texture to the water. Mary and Laura both loved the lavender.

Ma opened the fancy jar of lavender petals that Mary and Laura had received for Christmas a few years ago.

She placed the petals in the water and soaked two cloths.

Ma placed a cloth on each of their foreheads, and the girls peacefully rested. Neither of the girls were sleeping, they just lay there, praying to get better...

Doll Clothes Idea & Outfit of the Day! #1

I decided to start a new thing where I did a doll clothes idea of the day, and I also would show you a outfit that I created from all my existing doll clothes. The idea is to hope that you guys get some cool doll clothes outfit ideas and stuff like that!
I might not be able to do it everyday of course, but I'll do it on days that I can.

Our model today is going to be Molly!

Here is Doll Clothes Idea/Tip #1: So, a lot of people, I know, like to create different outfits out of outfits they already own. To make it even more unique, here's what I do, I put out a couple skirts/pants, a few tops, shoes, and tights/socks (if I am using flip flops, I will, of course, not use these). I close my eyes (or look away), and pick one thing out of each pile. I don't really know what I am picking, but once I look back around, I always have a full outfit, that probably wouldn't look like it would go together at first, but it ends up being REALLY cute (most of the time). This is such a fun way to experiment and find new outfit combinations you would never think of!

Here is the outfit I ended up with when I tried this! I wouldn't really of thought of putting those together probably, but once I did, it was REALLY cute (IMO).

This outfit is made up of:

Shirt = Everyday Play Jumper (I think that is what it is called - it is the blue jumper and boots)

Skirt: AGP Exclusive (I think it is)

Tights: Julie's Calico Dress outfit

Sandals: Lanie's Butterfly Outfit (the orange and reddish dress)

Here it is against a different background (I didn't think it showed up so well against the white wall.)

Cute feet! I really like this combination and I almost don't want to take her out of it! I also tried this combination on with one of the AGP red exclusive shirts that says the store's name on it.

Lastly, a picture of Molly. I showed it at the beginning of the post, so I decided to end the post with this picture too!

I also decided to end it with this small announcement: I should be posting much more because I came up with a new system that you guys might be interested in hearing about. Here it is:  Every time I have a good chunk of time to get on my blog, I'll upload a bunch of posts and just keep them in draft. Every time I have only a few minutes, I'll just get on here and click "publish" on the drafts. That way, you guys can read a post even when I don't have time to write one! So, expect a lot of posts more frequently.

Ivy & Kit Read Samantha Books! (Short Photostory)

Ivy & Kit decided to take out some books and read today. I'm so glad they did, and they are too! They had a great time! Here are some pictures:

"Today would be a great day to read, don't you think?" Molly smiled, and Kit nodded, racing off to get the books.  

"Wow, this Samantha book is really good," Kit said in amazement. "Being a kid in 1904 sounds sort of adventurous and fun."

"Yes it does, we really should talk to Samantha more about her story," Molly suggested. Kit agreed. "Maybe we can talk to her tonight - or later, after we finish all her books!"

"The Samantha Saves the Day Book is even better!" Molly cried as they got to the most exciting part.

"Definitely," Kit agreed, "I love her little sailor suit and stuff - Samantha's collection is coming back, I think I'm going to buy one of those outfits for myself!"

"Me too," Molly responded, still caught up in the book.
