Little House on the Prairie Part 2 of: First Day of School!

The bell had just rang and all the children filed into the school house and put their lunch pails and books down. Many of the students were familiar with the school, and Mary and Laura were the only new ones besides a girl named Samantha. She looked nice, but they would have to meet at recess. Right now it was time for the first day of school!!
Mary and Laura slowly made their way to the front of the classroom. Some of the kids stared, but some were still putting their things away at the front door of the school.
"Hello, I'm your teacher Miss Beadle!" Miss Beadle was very kind looking and upbeat. She seemed really cheerful.
"Ma'am, I'm Mary," Mary tried to look happy, but she began to feel as nervous as ever.

"I'm Laura," Laura rarely got too nervous, but right now she was. But, all she had to do was think of Nellie Oleson, and it made her have that spunky feeling again for some reason.

Mary and Laura went to Miss Beadle, received some new books, and then told her how much they new about things. Neither Mary nor Laura new much about math, but Mary could already read, write, and spell, while Laura couldn't yet. But Laura knew she would learn quickly.
Mary and Laura took their seats. Miss Beadle began to teach arithmetic. Mary was learning a lot, but Laura wasn't. It was all so confusing with all those signs that really meant things, and those numbers that were forever changing into higher or lower ones. Laura felt a bit upset, she had thought that she would learn everything right away, she couldn't even remember what math signs she should use to write her arithmetic problems.
Finally they moved on to writing. Mary could write a whole lot of words. She got to move up to book two, and she was learning to write things called paragraphs. Laura was on her first page of her writing guide book 1. Laura could barely write the word dog, but then Miss Beadle taught her an easy trick. Really, words were just letters put together. Soon, Laura was spelling cat, rat, and mat. She had done three words in just one day!!
Reading was just as fun. Once you learned to read those words, you could find out everything you ever wanted to know.
Mary was reading an advanced book, and she was on to memorizing a poem about a frog and a bird. Laura had a whole page in her speller listing all the words she was to practice. Some were hard, but some she surprisingly knew! It was so fun, and for the first time that day, she was enjoying school a whole lot!
Laura thought her teacher was so beautiful. She had such wonderful hair, and she smelled of lemon verbena. Laura knew that school was going to just get better and better.
Mary really admired her teacher. But not for the same reasons as Laura. Mary thought that her teacher was so smart. How could she know all that? Mary knew that one day, she would be teaching up there just like Miss Beadle. She hoped her students would think highly of her just as the students thought highly of Miss Beadle.
At the end of the day, Nellie started making faces behind Laura's back. When Laura turned around and she saw her doing that, she did it right back.
Mary however was not pleased. Especially after almost getting told off this morning after Laura and Nellie's fight. Mary wished that Laura would just mind Nellie and let the whole country girls thing drop. But Laura was one to keep at things for a while.
But at last, it was time for recess and lunch, and then after that they would be dismissed to go home!
At recess, Mary tried to act sour about what had happened that morning, but school was going so good, that it was hard to act upset. She decided to speak with her sister about it once and then let it all drop.

"Laura, you better not be eyeing up Nellie or making faces at her!" Mary said as she saw Laura staring at Nellie who was over by the swing.
"You are right Mary, I guess I shouldn't look for a fight," Laura said as she took her eyes off Nellie.

"That's right you shouldn't, and you should stay out of them too! I'm upset about this morning, because suppose Miss Beadle would have come a second earlier, then we would've been in trouble. We can't get in trouble, Ma will be upset, and we want to be good girls," said Mary as she let everything out.

Laura nodded her head and stared guiltily at the ground. Mary could see she was sorry, so she let it all go.
Mary suggested that they sit down and make grass whistles. Laura loved to do this, and Mary did too!

Samantha the new girl was standing by herself over at a tree. The breeze was blowing through her dress and her hair, and she didn't care one bit that she had a small tear in her stocking, or that she had lost her bow. She was growing up with her Grandmary in a wealthy town nearby. She was supposed to be proper, but she wasn't usually unless she was with her Grandmary. But right now, Samantha did care about something, making friends -- good friends that didn't lie to you and didn't tell you mean things. Those were the kind of friends she found at the school in her town.
Maybe she would go say hi to those girls in the grass that were making grass whistles.
Samantha walked over and said hi. They talked for about three minutes and they learned stuff about each other. Samantha was three months younger then Mary. Still, Laura didn't care about the age difference, she liked Samantha Parks. Sam seemed really nice, and she didn't seem to be stuck up like Nellie Oleson.
As they sat down and made whistles, they saw Nellie come over. She looked nicer and kind this time. Laura was surprised, and so was Mary. Samantha looked happy that another friend might be coming her way.
"Hi, I'm Nellie Oleson, and I LOVE your dress! My family owns The Oleson Mercantile! Your dress is one of the latest fashions and I think it is darling. We are getting those dresses in later I believe! Want to come over and see later today?" Nellie still had a snooty and stuck up edge to her voice, but she was still much nicer then before. Laura knew it was only an act, just because Samantha had a nice dress.
Samantha politely refused, and then they all went to sit over by the tree.
Before they knew it, Samantha was already starting to climb the tree. Laura cheered her on, and Mary watched in amazement. Someone that seemed so proper was actually climbing in a tree!
Laura was soon climbing high in the tree along with Samantha.
"Come on Mary, it is really fun up here!" Laura called down to her sister.
Mary wasn't too fond of climbing. She was a little scared to be climbing on a shaky tree, but why not?
Soon Mary was up in the tree studying away. Plant roots were very interesting. She would have to experiment with roots out of some weeds while she did her chores!
Finally Laura and Samantha reached the top of the tree where Mary was. They all began to help her study for tomorrow's Spelling Bee!! Mary just had to win!

Soon, Samantha's carriage came and she had to go. Mary and Laura went on their way home too. It had been a great first day of school, but now they had to go do their homework and chores.

The End.

Julie and Jasamine's Adventurous Day

All the other girls were finishing all their Christmas Break homework, but Jasmine and Julie had already finished. They decided to go have their own play day around the farm. Jasmine was interested in seeing more of the farm, since she had only been there for three months, and with all the schoolwork she hadn't had time to explore a whole lot. Today was her real chance to go have fun. After asking her mom, Jasmine went out with Julie. They couldn't wait to start their day!!
Julie and Jasmine were excited that it was an unusually warm day, so they brought out some of their summer stuff!

"Come on, let's make a wish with this dandelion!" Julie said excitedly. Wishes were such magical fun things.
"Wow Julie, I sure hope are wishes come true!" Jasmine said with a dreamy sigh.
"Well, why don't we relax for a while. It will help us have more energy for later," Julie took her hat off and the girls sat in a big chair and began to get into a big conversation.

Then, the girls decided to go climb the big tree. It would be hard, but fun of course!
"This sure is hard work Julie!" Jasmine said as she tried to get her hanging foot onto the branch.
"Don't worry, the first time you climb is always the hardest, the second time will be easier!" Julie was making her way up the tree with easily.

"Come on up higher Jasmine, the higher you are, the more fun it is!" Julie called down to Jasmine as she watched her swing from the lower branch.
"Almost up Julie, I'm almost up!" Jasmine cried out as she tried to get up higher.

"I'm gettin' there, I'm getting there!!" cried Jasmine as she saw how high she was getting every time she switched to a higher branch.
"Wow you can see everything from up here! Even our main house and some of our cabins! Thanks so much for showing me all this Julie!" Jasmine looked up at Julie who was sitting just a little bit higher then her.
"Come on Jasmine, get just a little higher! Don't worry, you can totally do it!" Julie looked down at Jasmine who was getting higher and closer every minute.
"Yay, I did it!" Jasmine hugged Julie when they were finally sitting next to each other. This was such a special day that wouldn't ever be forgotten.
"You know what Jasmine, sitting up here in the trees sure makes me feel like doing some cool tricks!" Julie got a mischievous grin on her face, and suddenly, she was getting higher in the tree, doing crazy tricks all the way.
"Bet you can't do this!" cried Julie as she hung from the tree by her feet.
It did make Jasmine a little scared, but she knew that if she could do gymnastics on a mat, she could probably do them in a tree.
"Oh yeah, I can do that too!!" Jasmine cried out with a big smile on her face.
Playing up in the trees had been great, but Star needed some exercise too, so the girls brought him out into the fun. Jasmine brushed his mane, and his tail while Julie stayed up front and stroked Star's head.
Julie grabbed the camera and took a bunch of pictures as Jasamine came closer and closer. Jasmine loved horse riding and was getting better and better.
"Smile for the camera Star!"Julie said giggling.
Jasmine took Star on a short walk along the rocky shore. Star loved walking along the shore. Suddenly, Jasmine broke Star into a trot, and Star began to go faster. It was so much fun!
When Jasmine got back, they set Star out to run, and the girls relaxed. Jasmine couldn't wait to read the latest Beach Sport Magazine that Kanani ordered. Jasmine was really interested in surfing more during next summer.
Then, Julie wanted to try to get back into rollerskating. "Hey Jasmine, will ya take my picture or a video?" Julie called to Jasmine.
As Julie rode by, Jasmine took a pretty good action packed video.
"WHOA WHOA AHHHhhhh-!!" cried Julie as she went head first into the grass.
"Shoot," said Julie.
"Well, at least you didn't get hurt Julie, but I still think that we should be done with roller skates for the day," said Jasmine as she helped Julie up. "How about you get on the rollerskates and ride me around on Star while I draw a picture of the shore for my advanced art club? it would help me out a whole lot," Julie looked at Jasmine with pleading eyes.
Jasmine knew that Julie had to do a sketch of something during Christmas break and she hadn't done it yet, so Jasmine agreed.

"Have you got any good sketches yet Julie?" Jasmine asked.
"Not quite yet, almost though!" Julie said as she concentrated on drawing.
"Do you have anything yet Julie?" Jasmine asked as she tried to guide Star.
"Not quite yet, I messed up on my last drawing!" said Julie as she tried not to mess up.
"Well, can you hurry up, it's sort of hard to skate over a bunch of rocks," said Jasmine as she struggled to stay up while leading a horse.
"Alright, I've got the picture, how about we play a game of Fairy Tag now? You're the fairy first!" cried Julie as Jasmine got her skates off and Julie dismounted Star.
"Hey, wait up!" Jasmine giggled as she threw the skates and ran off with the special Fairy Tag leaf.
Soon the girls were soon running around and laughing! Julie's hat even flew off!
But suddenly, Julie was running so fast and she couldn't stop in time to get away from the chair! OH NO!!
"Oh No!! Someone, anyone help me! I'm all tangled up!" cried Julie as she flopped around trying to get the chair off her feet.
"Jasmine ran as quick as she possibly could to rescue Julie. She couldn't let her friend stay there!
She tried to get it off Julie, but it wasn't coming. Jasmine was struggling.
Finally, she got one foot out, and then the other. Julie was freed!
"Look it's getting pretty late, and besides the others are playing kickball out front, I can hear them. Let's pack up, get dressed and then go join them," Jasmine said as she helped Julie up for the second time that day. She hoped Julie hadn't gotten too hurt.

The girls had had a great day, and ending it with a nice session of kickball was a great idea. Sometime soon, all the girls are going to go out on a big camping trip they hope. Hope it happens!

Little House on the Prairie Part 1 of: First Day of School

Once upon a time in the very small town of Walnut Grove, Minnesota, it was the first day of school for all the children in the town and the nearby town. Laura and Mary Ingalls had just left their house on their walk to school. They lived on a nice farm in Walnut Grove, and Mary couldn't wait for the first day of school. Some day she wanted to be a teacher. Laura was seven and Mary was nine. Laura was a little excited, well, maybe. She thought she would rather stay home with her baby sister Carrie, but she knew she had to go to school, and besides, she mustn't disappoint her ma. Maybe it would be fun.
"Come on Laura, stop being so slow, you don't want to make us late for school on the first day, do you?" Mary sighed a heavy sigh as she tried to grab her sister's hand. Laura just didn't understand, they couldn't just walk in late on the very FIRST day!
"I am so upset that we forgot our bonnets, I hope ma isn't mad," Mary said, trying to make a conversation as they neared the school. Even though Mary was excited, she was a bit scared too. In her stomach she had that scared, but excited feeling that made her want to jump for joy and make her run and hide all at the same time. Mary was a little worried that her eggs and bacon wouldn't stay down.
After getting to the school and into the school yard, a young girl that looked about a year older then Laura and a year younger then Mary walked up to them. Her dress was very bright pink, and it had beautiful lacy bows going up the sides. Her hair had perfect curls and they bounced with every step she took. Mary thought she might be their possible new friend, but somehow, Laura knew better.
"Hello, I heard two new country girls were coming to this school, I suppose you must be the two," she looked at them with a questioning glare that made Mary want to run and hide, but also to stand up for herself all at the same time.
Laura never felt like running and hiding in times like these, she just wanted to stand up for herself, "Yes, we are the country girls, and why does that make any difference to you if we're from the country or the town?" Laura tried to act a little braver then she felt.
"Well, my father owns  The Oleson Mercantile right across the street, and I am Nellie Oleson," Nellie said.
"Well, we are the Ingalls' I'm Mary and this is my younger sister Laura. Nice to meet you Nellie," said Mary trying her hardest to act kind. She knew Ma would be proud of her.
"Well I don't think you should act like your so big, you are just two little dirty country girls!" Nellie said with a little laugh.
"Don't you call me and my sister that you big pink mouse!" Laura shouted as she pushed Mary aside and stood in front of her.
Mary, on the other hand, didn't usually like to fight, but right now, she thought it might be a little okay.
"YOU DON'T CALL ME THAT!" shouted Nellie as she stamped her foot hard on the rocky, dirty, dusty ground.
Suddenly, before Nellie and Laura knew it, they were wrapping there arms over each other, and Laura was being thrown head over heels. Of course, Laura brought Nellie down with her and soon they were rolling around fighting.
Mary, who had gone to meet some other girls by the side of the school house, quickly saw what was going on with Laura. Mary felt upset with Laura, and mad with Nellie too. But, she would feel bad just standing and watching the fight. Mary just had to go get her sister out of trouble! Quickly, she ran to the scene.
Mary was really upset with Laura, she feared they would get in trouble on their first day. It was still really early, so their teacher hadn't come down the road yet, so Mary figured they would be fine. Still, the thought of getting in trouble on the first day made Mary want to be mad, sad, and really worried. But, she went on to try to save her sister.
Nellie was surprisingly upset and pretty strong. She quickly knocked Mary out of the scene, but then quit fighting. Thank goodness too, because the teacher had just been spotted down the road far away.
"Look what you did! Next time you make me all dirty, I'll tell Miss Beadle everything you did. I'll let you off free this one time though," said Nellie acting very upset.
The girls were very relieved that Nellie wouldn't tell Miss Beadle their new teacher. Now they just had to wait for Miss Beadle to get up the school house steps and ring the bell.
